This verse spoke to me:
1 Cor. 1:31
31 so that, as it is written, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord."
It's not about us, it's about God and His goodness. We are but instruments for Him to use. We didn't get here by pulling ourselves up by our own boot straps, we don't know everything, true wisdom and strength and knowledge comes from God and we should see Him for those things and not really on our selves or others.
I think it's also a reminder that we owe it all to God - we have to give Him credit and not ourselves or others. I struggled up until recently with thy because I didn't want it to seem like I was bragging "oh look what I have or got to do or whatever". Even when I was thanking God for it. But if we are genuine in showing our thanks and if we remember to celebrate and praise God for the good and the bad so we can encourage others and not front like all is always good, we should boast in The Lord and his goodness and all he does and is doing for us. We should thank him for the bad because we know he's going to being us through and we'll be better because of he trial and those are he moments that encourage others. To see we can boast in The Lord through the good and the bad and see we aren't just highlighting he good stuff and trying to hide the bad.
