1 Corinthians 4:20
For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
This verse stood out to me because we often hear it as, "Actions speak louder than words." When we think about this in relation to the kingdom of God, there is a heightened understanding of what, where, when, and how to share the gospel. Not only do we want to share with others salvation, deliverance, etc. but we want them to get a better picture of its significance in their lives.
The rest of 1 Corinthians 4 talks about being in a position to share the truths of the gospel, i.e.. faithfulness (v. 2). However, I think that it's really summed up in verse 20 because as much as we try to share in the different relationships that we find ourselves in, the power is truly conveyed in our actions. As we mentioned earlier showing/walking in love is one of the key elements to advancing the kingdom of God and reaching true growth and maturity. The process is almost cyclical; as we seek to please God by doing kingdom work (ministry - which is about others and not ourselves), He develops in us characteristics to do so that all point to faithfulness.
The kingdom of God is about these things. First, further developing that relationship with Him - understanding the purpose that He designed us for and putting it to use for Him. Next, He gives us the opportunity to enjoy and perfect these gifts by sharing them with others - our relationships. Lastly, the power is revealed (for His glory) when we share with others how to maneuver through this same process. But, it isn't enough to just talk about the kingdom of God; we have to understand that the story of our lives - our actions really paint the picture of God's power.
