Hey everyone ! Great comments on yesterday's scripture, here's my thoughts on today's :
Ephesians 2:
1 And although you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
2 in which you formerly lived according to this world's present path, according to the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the ruler of the spirit that is now energizing the sons of disobedience,
3 among whom all of us also formerly lived out our lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath even as the rest…
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,
5 even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ - by grace you are saved! -
6 and he raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
7 to demonstrate in the coming ages the surpassing wealth of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God;
9 it is not from works, so that no one can boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.
We all have the tendency towards operating out of the flesh, but we don't have to continue on the path, we've been freed from that, no matter what our background is (born and raised in the church, saved for a long time, or just yesterday). We all have different experiences about we've been blessed to be freed from it. God love enough to free us from all of that so we could be closer to Him do there doesn't have to be a divide among us - that's powerful to me.
I've spent a lot of energy comparing myself to people I feel like God must love more than me cause things are just working out for them or because they have some visible gift/talent and God speaks directly to them to guide them. I always felt like he outsider - so I felt that much more driven to somehow impress God and get his attention and tried to take on the world and do everything for everybody regardless of how it effected me - I wanted God to love me, to notice me. I feel like this scripture is a reminder that He never forgot, he loved me before I was even born and He always will. It doesn't matter how many times I fall or fail (not that that should be an excuse) God loves me and you :-)
