Hey Guys! Here are the verses that stood out to me in Ephesians 4...
14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—
16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
To sum verse 14 up...WHEN YOU KNOW BETTER, YOU (SHOULD) DO BETTER! The more and more we come into knowledge about God and who He truly is, there should be a change in us. There should be a change in the way we walk, talk, and act. We should no longer act like children who don't know any better and are influenced by everything that we see with our natural eye. The more we grow in Christ, we should be able to better recognize things that are of God and things that are not of God. If we are going to church, reading the word, and discussing the word amongst like minded individuals and there is no change in us then that means we are not truly RECEIVING the Word of God. It is important that we receive the Word of God so that our spirit man can be awakened and we can begin to operate in a way that is above our intellect.
But then in verse 15 it reverts right back to what we've been talking about...LOVE. In everything we do, we must do it in love. I know that I've always prided my self in being blunt and "telling it like it is". smh. However, when I think back, there were very few times that I did this through love. That probably explains why me telling someone the truth actually backfired on me several times. I wasn't operating under the influence of God's love. When we really begin to understand the magnitude of God's love for us, it will help us in our interactions with one another.
Lastly, verse 16 just brings it all together. When we are operating through the love of God, it is that very thing that brings us closer together in the Body of Christ. Every single person in the Body of Christ should be supplying something (every joint supplies). What I am able to offer the Body of Christ may not be the same thing that you are able to offer the body of Christ, but it is important to understand that we all have something to offer. And in return this is how the Body of Christ grows and matures in the things of God.
In everything we do, we must do it in love...
Be encouraged
