Hey loves! I pray you all are doing well and are pressing forward and digging deep :-)
So what stood out for me in this chapter was "hope"
4 For everything that was written in former times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we may have hope.
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
In the Daily Hope devotional this morning, Rick Warren talks about Paul. He gives a lot of great back ground on where Paul finds himself at the point of his life after Jesus' Resurrection and Ascention to Heaven - Paul really really really wanted to preach to the Roman people, at the time Rome was the "center of the world" (that regoon's world anyway) and what better way to spread the Good News than to do it at the center! But this wasn't God's plan for Paul. We can see how lovelingly Paul writes to the church in Rome and how he speaks of a longing to be with them. The thing is, Paul ends up in a Roman prison under gaurd 24/7 for 3 years. The focus of the devotional was to remind us to see things from God's perspective so we can have HOPE And joy/happiness inspite of difficult situations. Paul didn't get a heave to preach to the Roman church like he wanted BUT God did use him to touch the hearts of over 4000 royal gaurds (who watched over him) and he wrote 7 of the New Testament books allowing for The Good News to STILL reach lost souls and encourage Christains to this day. God used a difficult situation that didn't look anything like what Paul wanted and, because Paul was willing to have HOPE and see things from God's perspective, blessed so many more people than Paul would have ever imagined.
So, with that said. We all have to stay encouraged and work to see things from God's view point so we can have hope and joy as we go through difficult and confusing situations. God WANTS to use us for greater things than we can imagine, we have to trust Him and give Him the space to do so. It's not easy, I know I jut want things my way, the way I have them planned out in my head, but with God, much greater things can be accomplished. We have to endure, we have to stay encouraged, it won't always be easy but God will get the glory ! Allow the Holy Spriry in so that you may have joy. Ask God to show you what you are to learn or gain from your difficult situation or how what you're going through can be a blessing to others and a blessing to you.
Love y'all !
