ok, moving on to Chapter 8:
19 the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he would not listen, just as the Lord had said.
22 “‘But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen, where my people live; no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know that I, the Lord, am in this land. 23 I will make a distinction between my people and your people. This sign will occur tomorrow.’”
24 And the Lord did this. Dense swarms of flies poured into Pharaoh’s palace and into the houses of his officials; throughout Egypt the land was ruined by the flies.
Starting with verse 19: I just think it's ironic the the magicians, who all this time have been reporting the "wonders" Moses and Aaron have been doing on behalf of God finally realize that "oh wait, this HAS TO BE GOD" and even to the point of admitting it out loud to their King. AND EVEN IN THE MIDST OF THAT, the King's heart is still harden, just like God said. Some of those closest to Pharaoh couldn't even change his mind.
Verses 22-24 are really the bread and meat to me. Up to this point, both the Israelites and the Egyptians had to bare the burden and hardship of the signs that Moses and Aaron (and the magicians) were doing trying to persuade Pharaoh to let God's people go. But now, after three (3) signs have been done, God decides to show Himself even more powerful and be showing favor to His people in front of Pharaoh by separating them from the hardships the Egyptians would face because Pharaoh wouldn't listen/obey God' request. I think this is encouraging when we think about the foolishness that we have to go through because people in charge are selfish - God will separate us from their hardship and provide protection for us. I truly believe when that day comes (for our people as a whole and in our personal lives with our person struggles) we must rejoice in knowing that soon we will be released from bondage. BUT just as Kia stated before, we'll be laid into the wilderness and we need to know what to do in that situation - it's laid out for us, we need to pray and offer sacrifice to God and trust Him for deliverance to our Promised Land (and not let fear consume causing us to sin or desire to go back to slavery). Be encouraged, the separation is coming !!!
