Hey y'all! We are 18 Days into this fast and reading and God is already showing up and showing out! Praise God for blessing Kia's family RIGHT ON TIME! It's something to be excited for as we each use this as encouragement to stay patient and ever trusting - knowing that God WILL work it out because He is. Provider, He already has a plan and WE SHALL NOT LEAVE EMPTY!
Ok lol back to Exodus, so I can't say that any particular verse stood out but in general I feel like this chapter (titles "Advice from Jethro " in my Bible) shows that we need to be ever vigilant to those around us. Jethro had not suffered in Egypt with Moses and Aaron and the Israelites, nor did he witness God wonders or deliverance in person, and he had not wandered the desert either - Jethro had simply HEARD about what God had done to Pharaoh and for Israel. There is a power in hearing but we all must be careful - sometimes we need to see for ourselves. So Jethro did just that, he met Moses out in the desert and saw first hand how God was keeping watch over Israel. But what is most interesting to me is Jethro's advice. Jethro was able to shead light and bring new prospective to a situation that was cause wear and tear on Moses (though Moses was doing something right for the people).
I think this shows us that 1) we have at least take the time to listen to "outsiders" because they may have some helpful advice and a new predictive - what we call a "fresh pair of eyes to a situation. Cause clearly noone else saw a problem. 2) DELIGATION! We can't do it all, we aren't supposed to do it all. Just like Jethro said to Moses, if he continued doing as he was Moses wasn't going to make in.
The added benefit of delegation is that it allows others to be a blessing as well. We are naturally controlling beings, we struggle to give God control, we struggle to share the work load with others cause they won't do it tight or fast enough and we'll have to go behind them anyway, whatever, this that and the third. But we HAVE to do better. Jesus didn't even do it all on His on- He had disciples. So why would we think we can do it all by ourselves ?!?!
Take done Jethro advice and learn to share the great task of being a blessing to others!
Love y'all :-)
