Hey guys,
Hope everyone is well this morning! Thanks to all who participated in the prayer call. Hopefully next week we will have even more! Make sure you post on them forum your requests and reports so we can pray and rejoice! So here is what stood out to me in these chapters.
Ch. 13 v. 5 If only you would be altogether silent, For you that would be wisdom!
v. 9 Would it turn out well if he examined you? Could you deceive him as you might deceive men?
v. 12 Your maxims are proverbs of ashes, your defenses are defenses of clay
When I read these verses, I got a GOOD HEARTY laugh! I just feel like at this point, Job is fed up with listening to his friends and their reckless talking. For 12 chapters, he has been complaining, questioning God, trying to get his thoughts together so that he can make his case, all the while being distracted by his so-called friends. You see, everyone has a limit. If we go back to the first couple of chapters, we saw that Jobs friends came and sat with him for a week because they saw how pained he was. By the end of that week though, they just couldn't hold it any longer. The whole time, they were probably sitting around waiting till the time was 'right" to tell Job about himself. They have only added to Job's distress by basically telling him he's a horrible persona and it's his fault and what he should do to fix the problem. They are so quick to try to "help" him out of his situation by insinuating that it's his fault that he's there in the first place, but this chapter we see Job take a step away from his despair and put his friends in their place! In my mind, I just see Job all beat up, bruised, scabs, weak, dirty just a mess, but at this point I just imagine him standing up firm and tall and letting them have it. I love this because it is a reminder of what has to be done sometimes. Sometimes we really have to go it alone. We need time to think to process and to be in the place where we can hear from God clearly. We can't get so caught up in listening to our friends, the self help books, the pastor, your family etc. Sometimes you really gotta go to God and make your request known to God ALONE! No one else, has or needs to know! Job says yall just shut up, I gotta go talk to the man. Your words are useless, your logic is phony and your hearts aren't pure. You're just as bad as me if not worse! I just love it! Sometimes we get so caught up in the things around us that we don't realize that though we THINK that someone may have wisdom from God, ultimately you can go straight to him. There's no need for a middle man!
