Good morning !! Thankful for the rain this morning, for with rain comes growth and new life!
The verses that stood out to me this morning :
Ch. 28
15 Fine gold cannot be given in exchange for it, nor can its price be weighed out in silver.
18 Of coral and jasper no mention will be made; the price of wisdom is more than pearls.
27 then he looked at wisdom and assessed its value; he established it and examined it closely.
28 And he said to mankind, 'The fear of the Lord - that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.'"
I found these verses to be a powerful reminder of how valuable wisdom is both from our perspective and from God's. It's not something that I feel like falls under "to whom much is given, much is required" when we find ourselves seeking/asking God for wisdom, I think we have to be reminded of the great value that it holds and therefore the great responsibility that comes with it. Yes, it's beneficial to have wisdom, but if we think back to KingSolomon (who because he asked for wisdom was given riches and peace from war as well) we have to realize that he was required to USE that wisdom regularly. Yes, his name was held in high regard throughout the land, but that didn't come easy, he didn't get to just sit around and chill and be wise. King Solomon didn't get to just be wise to benefit himself or even just those close to him - he was called to use that wisdom to help a whole people AND forefingers. Asking for wisdom require maturity and diligence to use it to be a blessing to others. Bringing this back to the story of Job - his "friends" talked down to him out of what they felt was wisdom - wisdom calls for correction and lends to direction for improvement, it doesn't call for condemnation (as Job's "friends" insisted on doing). We have to make sure in our asking for things of such value like wisdom, our ACTIONS and WORDS are inline with the value that it holds - wisdom being based in fearing (respecting and with respect comes LOVING).
Ch. 29
11 "As soon as the ear heard these things, it blessed me, and when the eye saw them, it bore witness to me,
12 for I rescued the poor who cried out for help, and the orphan who had no one to assist him;
13 the blessing of the dying man descended on me, and I made the widow's heart rejoice;
14 I put on righteousness and it clothed me, my just dealing was like a robe and a turban;
15 I was eyes for the blind and feet for the lame;
16 I was a father to the needy, and I investigated the case of the person I did not know;
17 I broke the fangs of the wicked, and made him drop his prey from his teeth.
Ironically, when I read these verses, all I thought about was JESUS! I completely forgot I was in the old testament reading about Job - these verses scream JESUS to me. And really, that is the true blessing. That even THEN images of our Holy Savior were revealed and instructions for the expectations of Christians were laid out. God is all powerful and almighty and all-seeing and all-knowing and IN EVERYTHING. It's just awesome to see this. Knowing what's to come and knowing that Job had no real idea of the power in his words, I think serves as a reminder that we talk and act boldly for The Lord because we have the power to speak life into a situation that won't happen for GENERATIONS but will serve as a profound example of God's faithfulness! Mind your words and your actions!
Have a fantastic day - love y'all !
