Good morning everyone. Again, so sad that I wasn't able to join you all in prayer last night but I will continue to lift you all in prayer (and remember to post your request so we can all pray for each other throughout the week).
These are the verses that stood out to me:
Ch. 36:
2 "Be patient with me a little longer and I will instruct you, for I still have words to speak on God's behalf.
So, I can be honest, my first instinct when I read this was to tune out all the rest of what Eliuh had to say, because I do the same thing in real life. I personally feel too many people walk around insisting they speak on behalf of God and that's a large reason why people (especially our generation) are pulling away from the Church/Christianity. NOT EVERYONE IS CALLED TO PREACH OR TEACH THE WORD OF GOD! And we have to be careful not to just start living off of just anyone's words. It's one thing to be a witness or to share The Word. But it's completely different to boast in saying that you speak on behalf of God - IF YOU AREN'T 100% SURE THAT GOD HAS CALLED YOU IN SUCH A MANNER BE CAREFUL NOT TO FALL INTO THAT TRAP. God can and wants to use all of us, that is true, that's what The Word says, but it also says we are each a separate member of the body of Christ with our own purpose - NOT EVERYONE CAN HAVE THE PURPOSE TO PREACH, that's like the whole body being a mouth. Now, on the flip side, if The Lord HAS called you to speak on His behalf LET HIM USE YOU! Don't fight it, don't deny it, don't hide from it - walk in it, TALK IN IT! I think it's our responsibility to make sure our hearts are attuned to God enough to know 1) what He has called US to do and 2) what He has called those we take guidance from to do.
Ch. 37:
6 For to the snow he says, 'Fall to earth,' and to the torrential rains, 'Pour down.'
In this Chapter there is more emphasis made on how much power God has. This verse stood out to be in particular because I feel it's a delicate topic. God has all power in His hand. He is in control on the wind and the rain and the snow, the rising and setting of the Sun, all of that. But with that power can easily come the question of why God would let ____ happen which result in loss of lives/property. Job lived through the tragedy of having natural disaster take the lives of his children - all of them in one incident. How heartbreaking! We see tragedy all the time with it come to hurricanes/floods or terrible snow storms, tsunamis and earthquakes, tornadoes and forest fires...all of it. I've heard this as an argument as to why God isn't loving and merciful: "if He was, He wouldn't have allowed this to happen, since He has all power in His hands." A strong argument since this isn't something that involves God giving us free will and we as people bring destruction upon ourselves. But I think these things happen to serve as a reminder who is in control. It's not the rich politician or the new station meteorologist and it's NOT MOTHER NATURE - God is in control and we have to respect that. God said He wouldn't flood the whole Earth again and He hasn't, but I think we often need a reminder of where true power and control lie or this world would look more like Sodom and Gomora than it already does. And often out of tragedy comes unity and new life - sometimes we're pushed into a situation that requires us to come together, if we'd be more willing to do that without a crisis involved we'd be better off and I think we would see the terrible things we see so often.
Have a great day!!!
