Good afternoon fine people! I pray you each are doing well.
From today's reading, these verses stood out:
Ch. 38:
3 Get ready for a difficult task like a man; I will question you and you will inform me!
All I could think was "huh oh, it's on now!" God has spent the last thirty some chapters just observing and now He is ready to step in. Everyone said their piece and now it's His turn. Like when your mom listens to all the sides of the story about who did what, after she watched it all happen, and now she's ready to hand down a verdict!
This also makes me think of how I can sometimes find myself just wishing God would flat out tell me when something difficult was coming my way so I could prepare and not have to stumble through trying to get my bearings straight in the beginning. But I am looking at this like - there is NO way to really prepare for this. Even with forwarding - Job/they just ain't ready! And how could you really be when you go to look at what God is questioning Job about ?!? You have nothing to say for yourself in this situation. You really just have to sit there and take it and BE HUMBLED ! And that's the biggest things I took from both chapters - this is a humbling experience to have God sit you down and be real and make it plain to you and you ain't got nothing on Him and you never will so stop thinking so highly of yourself as if you had the power to bestow on yourself wisdom and understanding or control the winds and the rain or lay the foundation of the earth.
Ch. 39
(13 "The wings of the ostrich flap with joy, but are they the pinions and plumage of a stork?)
17 For God deprived her of wisdom, and did not impart understanding to her.
18 But as soon as she springs up, she laughs at the horse and its rider.
These verses hit me in to different ways. First, highlight than wisdom is not earned or acquired but GIVEN from God and if he so chooses to deprive you of it, you won't have it, plan and simple, you don't just get wisdom with age, as Quia pointed out in her posts about Elihu. It's a gift from God and that gift comes with responsibly - so be careful what you ask/pray/trust God for. Secondly, it reminded me of the people who I may compare myself to because they seem so carefree or extra talented/confident. All that is well and good but if you don't have wisdom it doesn't matter how fast you are or how confidently you laugh off situations. An ostrich is a very fast bird but it can't fly. It doesn't build nests like regular birds and has HUGE wings and lays HUGE eggs. It stands out from amongst the other foul but even with that - if it lacks wisdom, it's still not worth much more than the eggs it lays or it's feathers.
We have to be careful how we prioritize things and not to get distracted or caught up in the things that don't really matter or in comparing ourselves to others, espcially when they lack wisdom.
Have a great rest of the day !!!
