So I have gotten a little ahead of myself and read chapters 1-6, since Courtney and Kia touched and chapters 1 and 2. I will discuss chapter 3 Fighting the Good Fight. What particularly stuck out was the battle for self. Our minds are susceptible to so much if we do not protect and cast down our thoughts. Demons talk to our minds "So and So thinks your stupid" We believe that idea and act on it. We may act aggressive towards the person and harbor resentment. Or we may ignore them. We do not realize the enemy may be trying to break up a relationship or the enemy may be trying to get us to act out. Another example was about Mrs J not being able to retain full deliverance as long as her environment was unsettled. That is why it is so important to maintain relationships that have God as the head. A key part about warfare was clarified in the reading. Warfare is not prayer. On a more transparent level, I spoke out to a demon this morning and told it that it was not welcome in my home, near me or around me. In chapter 6 it lists common symptoms of indwelling demons and I went through the list and rebuked every problem I thought I had on that list. So I rebuked the demon of rejection, anger, cursing, lust and just in case they even thought about attacking my health I rebuked that too. I can honestly say after doing that this morning I felt a spirit of peace and clarity. I encourage you all to speak specifically to your problem. Your words have Power. I see you @maia!
Ok, here we go: Ch. 3 - in the opening of the chapter is talked about Christians needing "practical knowledge" as soldiers innGod army to fight against demons - that stood out to me because I appreciate that Ida not something beyond our reach - since we are all called to fight, the knowledge we need is therefore something accessible to all, i.e. It's not just a "preacher thing". Like Maia said - speaking out loud to demons (though not required) stood out to me too. For me I see it as connecting back to the power and authority we are given. We don't have to be shy about it - we can call them out (like home girl in War Room!). I think it's also important to see that the battle starts with US and that it isn't prayer - we need not slow down our deliverance waiting on God to do something He has already given us the power to do
Ch. 4 - Again there is the emphasis of human responsibility - we need to do our part and trust in what God and the Blood Of Jesus Christ have already provided us with and get to work! In general this chapter talks about our need to focus on preparing ourselves as a bride prepared for her bridegroom(the Lord). I like that analogy because I feel it's easy to relate too (even if you aren't married!) and what also stood out to me is how on pg 31 it's talks about demons being enemies of the fruits of the spirit and how demons will work to keep those fruits from coming forth and those hinder us as Christians as we prepare ourselves as brides for the Lord. We can't afford to be like those brides who didn't have enough oil and won't prepared as they needed to be for the coming of the bridegroom. We need to fight back NOW!
Ch 5 - this chapter opened with saying how Satan's plan of attack against each of us is personal - I never looked at it that way but it makes sense, and speaks to our need to each have a personal relationship with God so He will reveal to us what we need to fight against/guard our hearts against because how the devil attacks a friend may not be how he attacks me and I could get caught up/fall short trying to fight like them. The chapter ended with the instructions to not accept the damaging inheritance of our family history (health, emotions, financial situation) we are called to accept the healing and health of Jesus (John 10:10) - this is soooo vital. We aren't called to walk in and deal with the negativity of our family - we are new creatures created in God's image FOR Him. We can't sell ourselves short accepting things God never intended for us, we don't have to continue the broken cycle!!! AMEN!
Ch 6 - like Maia, I just started calling things out. It was eye opening to see the discretionary for the various problems, it caused me to really be honest with myself and not continue to settle with having pigs in my parlor !!!
