Hey guys!
So I'm enjoying reading everyone's posts! They are really enlightening and blessing me! So today's reading was something that I read about all the time because I always try to discern and figure out what my spiritual gift in. In a conversation that I had with Rickey we kind of determined that a spiritual gift, though different, serves the same purpose which is to glorify God, up build his kingdom and minister/witness to others. I think this is important because it helps us to remember that no one is "better" than someone else bc of the gift that they possess. At the end of the day everyone is important. I especially like the v. 25-26.
"That there should be no division in the body, but that it's parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it"
These verses speak to accountability which is fitting for what we are doing. It is necessary to ensure that we are checking in with each other and speaking life over situations that were going through. There is no reason that anyone should have to suffer alone wit our struggles. It also encourages us to humble ourselves and understand that victory and defeat are both results of TEAMWORK. We are connected and we can't deny ourselves that connectivity. Love you guys!

I think this chapter purposefully says the same thing in different ways to make sure everyone gets the same message from whatever understanding they have. Kia and Rickey are expressing the same feelings but pulled from different verses and the same goes for me:
4 Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are different ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are different results, but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. 7 To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the benefit of all.
We are all important and we should all value what we bring to the table/to the body because we'd be denying the whole body of Christ if we didn't. It's important to remember that no one gift is better than another because they all come from the same spirit and are each given to accomplish the same goal - building and serving the kingdom of God. We are accountable to each other to support and take care of one another and to be mindful not to put someone else down because we are each a vital part of the body.
I've always struggled with being able to except that I am important too because I've never felt like I brought anything significant to he table - I just see myself as average, yes I haw skills and abilities but I never saw anything about myself that stood out as a real gift and therefore made me a relevant part of the body. But everyone has a different ministry and a different calling and it doesn't have to be flashy to be important and you aren't any better than the next person because you decided your gift "makes you more humble" because you're not "center stage" as Rickey would say
We each have to work to be guided by what God is calling us to do and it may be outside of our comfort zone - you could be a really great singer but God is calling you to the prayer ministry for example. We can't be to full of ourselves or too comfortable in out ways to stray from the path God has for us - we each have our part to play to make sure the body of Christ is the best it can be and if you don't know your part or you do and you aren't acting in it - then get right ! (Thanks Rickey!)
