Hey ya'll! Here are the verses that stood out to me in Mark 10....
And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.
And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.
Often times we get so caught up in wanting material things whether it be homes, cars, clothes, shoes, etc... that we find ourselves grinding in our jobs and in school to obtain these things. We have convinced ourselves that the only way to obtain these things or to live a certain lifestyle is through working hard in our jobs and going back to school for higher education. While working and going back to school are all great things, we have to ask ourselves are we using these careers/future careers for the upbulding of God's Kingdom. We cannot get so caught up in relying on "riches"/money to provide us with not only what we need, but what we want as well. We have to put all of our trust in God because "with God all things are possible". In short, we have to be about our fathers business and not all about OUR business. This doesn't mean that you have to work at the church or be christian counselor or educator, this just means that no matter the job, we seize the opportunities that allow us to share the gospel with someone else. Jesus said that the man that has sacrificed for the gospel will receive a hundredfold in THIS TIME and in eternal life. This means that even though we had to distance ourselves from some of our closest friends and family members and we had to loose some things along the way and we had to go without some things because of the CALL, that our labor for the kingdom will not be in vain. God will honor the sacrifices that we make for the kingdom. However, I cannot ignore the part in verse 30 that says with persecutions. It is imperative that we understand what comes along with the blessings of God. We will be mistreated by some people because they do not understand spiritual things. They are only observing our situations and circumstances with their natural eye. A man that has not repented and been baptized with the holy spirit will not understand the things of God, therefore they have no other choice than to persecute what they don't understand. Understand folks that your current position is not your ultimate destination. Remember that you will be blessed for your sacrifice as it pertains to the Word of God.
