Hey hey hey! Hope all is well with you all, here is what stood out to me in Mark 12:
44 For they all gave out of their wealth. But she, out of her poverty, put in what she had to live on, everything she had."
There are many times when u get caught up and want to pat myself on the back for what I give to God (time and treasure) but this verse reminds me to stay humble. Yes, God is pleased when we follow His word and give into Him, but the scripture says its not equal giving but equal sacrifice. Is what I am giving to God a sacrifice ? Am I walking in faith and truly trusting Him by giving my last or from what little I may have left? Is there a true selfless cost for what I am doing or am I just going through the motions? Am I only giving of my time when it's convenient ? Am I only serving God when it fits into my schedule ? Am I only sharing my gifts when it benefits me ? Am I doing for Jesus to impress others/toot my own horn? Is what I am doing in the Name of Jesus for my benefit/bragging rights or solely to benefit God and His kingdom (trusting Him to make up for my lake/work a miracle/bring about a transformation so HE gets all the glory)?
This woman gave out of her lack, it was a true sacrifice for her but she trusted God and gave out of faith and love - what a beautiful example to follow. I pray we are never in a dire situation like she was, I pray for prosperity for all of us, but in the other areas if our life when we feel pressed for time, I encourage us to act in faith and give out of our lack and watch God get the glory and provide for our needs. Take that time to read the word even when you're tired, to pray for that person who hurt or frustrated you even when you'd rather spend your time talking about them or being angry (or pretending your not angry/bothered), to spread the Gospel and God's love when you'd rather talk about the latest episode of your favorite show
Make those sacrifices for God and watch Him work!
Love y'all
