Good morning every body! I pray you all had a great weekend!
Ok, so here's the scripture:
12 Now on the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb is sacrificed, Jesus' disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?"
13 He sent two of his disciples and told them, "Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him.
14 Wherever he enters, tell the owner of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"'
15 He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there."
16 So the disciples left, went into the city, and found things just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
My approach this morning - what stands out for me is what ISN'T said in this part of the scripture. My attention was drawn to the fact that God had to have already orchestrated the setting up of the upper room so the disciples would find things as Jesus had said, which means God had already spoke to the heart of the owner of that home prior to Jesus and his disciples reaching the city. Which mean this home owner had to have already had a willing spirit and resources to be able to provide a space a the celebration of Passover for 12 other people. WOW! I want to be that house owner. I want that willing spirit, that relationship with God that I am honored enough to provide for such a moment as preparing the Passover, the last Passover, one, if not THE most famous meal in the WHOLE Bible! I want God to bless me with resources enough to provide for extra people, to have everything all set and ready and waiting for the Master's arrival.
The owner of the Upper Room wasn't named, didn't get the lime light, but he did obey God and provide for what we now celebrate as Communion. Can you imagine what that conversation most have been like. God speaking to you and telling you to prepare a table for His Son to celebrate Passover with His disciple in your home?!?
What a mighty move of God and what faithfulness them homeowner showed. Imagine if he had complained and said no or had said yes but dragged his feet with getting things set up and ready - the disciples wouldn't have found things just as The Lord said. We have to be mindful that when God asks of us we have to be timely because we might not know the whole picture and how our faithfulness fits into someone else's blessing or salvation. Let us not complain or drag our feet when The Lord calls us to prepare a table. Let us not look for a shout out of the lime light when The Lord is asking is to serve and prepare a blessing/banquet/gift for someone else. Let us act out if love and kindness and act quickly when God places a task on our spirits - we could be preparing the way for a king !
Love y'all !
