Hey guys! Here are the verses that stood out to me in Mark 15...
12 And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
13 And they cried out again, Crucify him.
14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
These verses are interesting to me because we see Pilate looking for justification to crucify Jesus. My thoughts are that Pilate knew he had no reason on earth to crucify Jesus. I mean he wasn't even charged with any crime like that of Barabbas (and they freed him). They accused Jesus of several things but they did not have proof enough to actually charge him. This is powerful because Pilate didn't have a reason to crucify Jesus but he used the reactions of the people to justify his ordering of Jesus to be crucified. It's easy to operate in sin when those who are living in sin are telling you that what your doing is okay. "It's okay to kill and steal as long as you don't get caught" "It's okay to have sex before marriage, everyone does" "It's okay to disrespect and tear down others! Sometimes they deserve it!" These things are not okay and they totally contradict God's will for our lives. We cannot be swayed by the things of this world. It's so easy to fall into that category. This is why it is important that we are reading and understanding the word in a way that it is hard for us to conform to what the world justifies. In this scripture, the people couldn't even justify themselves. In verse 14 Pilate says "why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him." They didn't even answer Pilates question. All they could say was "crucify him". smh.
Just like Jesus, we too will encounter situations where we are accused of wrong doing without any proof. Those individuals who are truly walking in the Kingdom authority that God has given them are set apart. People in the world will recognize that there is something different about them but they will not be able to figure out what it is because they do understand spiritual things as it relates to the Body of Christ. And when people can't figure something out the next best thing for them is to make things up. Those people did not understand who Jesus really was. They kinda knew but their understanding was extremely vague. Because if they had really understood, they would have sat down some where and left my Jesus alone! lol! They could not understand who this King of the Jews was and how he could perform miracles, signs, and wonders. They just couldn't explain it in their natural minds. As a result, they wanted to punish what they couldn't understand. However, be encouraged because although Jesus had to be crucified, He still rose again!! And just like that folks, we too will will rise above the hurt and pain inflicted upon us because of THE CALL. Remember that God wants to do something BIG and GRAND in our lives and He wants to do it in a way that ONLY HE CAN DO!! No one else gets the credit! ALL GLORY TO HIM!!
