Good morning everybody ! I pray you all fared well through the rain we had recently. It supposed to be a beautifully weekend - make sure you get out and enjoy it!
Ok, so in Romans 9, here is what stood out to me:
8 This means it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God; rather, the children of promise are counted as descendants.
16 So then, it does not depend on human desire or exertion, but on God who shows mercy.
20 But who indeed are you - a mere human being - to talk back to God? Does what is molded say to the molder, "Why have you made me like this?"
21 Has the potter no right to make from the same lump of clay one vessel for special use and another for ordinary use?
I feel these verses are all a reminder that, at the end of the day, it's God who is in control. I think this re-highlights what Crystal said about us not pulling ourselves up by our own bootstraps but needing God all the time. And we do need Him all this time but these scriptures make it very clear that He is the potter and we are the clay. I love verse 20 - real talk, who are we?!?! I have I heck myself some days and remember that I am mere clay. It's certainly better to do a self check than to have God give you a reality check/reminder, though I have those moments too, and they are quite humbling. Yes, God created us in His image and He knows the desires of our hearts and we have His Spirit that tests in us, but HE CREATED us and its HIS Spirit that dwells in us - its all about God. Our lives should reflect daily that we are God's creation and that He has he first and final say in our lives.
Who are we to judge how God blesses/uses someone else or what He decides to gift us (or nt gift us) with. We are to be daily grateful for His mercy that allows us to keep living and breathing. The gift of life is just that - A GIFT!
I am truly moved by verse 8 because it reminds me or Sarah (and Abraham) as well as Hannah, but also my mom (and dad) who struggled and waited for 10 years to have me - but it was a promise they all held on to, trusting in God and being patient. We are all precious gifts of PROMISE, we each have a promise within us that God has placed on our lives that label us as His children, a promise much deeper than what church we go to, who are parents are, how much money we tithe, etc. it's not the outwardly things that make us God'd beloved children but what resides within us that should shine through us for he world to see (through our actions and words and dedication to following God and His will). So hang in there, trust in Him and keep pushing because there is a promise within you!
Alright, love y'all !!!
