Ok, verses from today's scripture in Romans 12 that stood out to me:
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil; consider what is good before all people.
18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all people.
19 Do not avenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to God's wrath, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay," says the Lord.
20 Rather, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing this you will be heaping burning coals on his head.
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Wow, well these can often be hard things to follow but so much stems from this.
1) there is nothing (worth having or long lasting) to be gain be seeking revenge/returning evil for evil. Even when we think we have to make sure the person/people learn thier lesson or make sure they don't hurt someone else - it's clear in the word not to return evil for evil and God will take care of it
2) now, verse not is quite popular, but we are charged to remember this whole in the midst of frustration of painful situations. But I also challenge us to notice there is no time amount associates to WHEN The Lord will "repay". So with that, just let go and let God. Don't find yourself sitting around waiting or praying finer something bad to happen to someone who hurt you. And don't be impatient thinking that because things didn't happen immediately that God isn't taking care of it, trust me He is, and faith requires patience
3) verses 20-21 basically can be summed up by "kill them with kindness" God says that they battle is not ours but His, that He will handle those who've mis-wronged you, SO in the mean time - kill them with kindness, continue to show love and forgiveness. But remember, just because you've forgiven someone doesn't mean you have to go back to a broken situation. Be strong and trust in God DVD now that better is coming but better may very well be someone outside of your comfort level - so push past the anger and "kill with kindness!"
Love y'all
