Good morning beautiful people! Hope yall had a great weekend...shoutout to Court on the #quarterofacentury lol
I think we missed a prayer call on Sunday, would love to hopefully reschedule for some time this week, if at all possible.
So let's get right into...
So Romans 13 brought to mind a couple of things, humility and accountability. In a more literal sense, the apostle is basically bringing the Christians of Rome under the subjection of the government. Yes we must obey the law. We got that part down, for the most part lol...Ultimately, I think he is teaching Christians that they also have a duty to submission. Fix your face, we are not anyone's doormat! But sometimes we just need to put our flesh under subjection, in time-out, on standby and own up to our wrongdoings. Its so much easier to stay hidden behind a mask while your life is dirt when no one is close enough to remove it. This made me think of how important it is to submit ourselves to be accountable to someone who LIVES above our spiritual maturity level. These people who hold us accountable make us take responsibility for our crap. They have been established by God, not our "yes friend" who always tells us whatever we want to hear. Like verse 5 says, this necessity isn't based on wrath but more about reverence to God.
The accountability situation teaches submission. And ladies, we ALL could use a class...I'm just saying lol. But I'm sure, submission for a man is a challenge as well. Pride is pride, no matter how you slice it. It takes an extra measure of humility to quiet yourself to the direction of someone who knows more than you do and has called you out on your mess. WE NEED THAT! Its not comfortable all the time but as we can see its a necessity that we learn to be humble in our submission. The benefit that we don't always see is love and growth.
Peace & Love
